Testo 435 performance test kit is engineered as an expandable HVAC IAQ, TAB, and service instrument. This performance test kit contains the required probes to measure Btuh, KWh, and Tons directly. The 435 can measures total (sensible and latent) cooling or heating air side performance.
The ability to test performance of appliances opens a whole new world to the technicians as the impact of the service work performed can be quantified. A simple test in and test out procedure will show the customer and the technician the value of the service performed. Dirty coils, incorrect charge, low airflow, evaporator bypass, and a host of other problems when corrected will show significant increases in the capacity or output of appliances. Going one step further the system watts can be directly measured with a watt meter like the Amprobe ACD-51NAV and the field EER calculated. Using this information, technicians, sales people and contractors can show the customer not only the value of service but also that the equipment that they installed is operating at capacity, as designed and as purchased.
The mini vane is ideal for in duct air measurement as it is a non-density dependent measure of the air velocity. The user inputs the duct dimensions for the point where air measurements will be made in and volume and a true mass flow rate will be automatically calculated by the 435. The change in enthalpy (Btu/lb) will be measured from return to supply via the wireless probes, and using the mass flow rate a change total heat will be measured and displayed in tons, Btuh, or KWh.
Because of the complexity of accurate field measurement and inaccuracies associated with traditional measurement procedures particularly in airflow and humidity, the capacity measurement obtained with the 435 should be considered the reference measurement against which others field and lab methods can be compared. In real world applications air is never standard air (68F, 0%Rh, 29.92 Hg) the standard air equations cannot be applied to obtain the high degree of accuracy often desired and achievable with the Testo 435. If using the standard air equations to compare measurements made with a 435, the constants in the standard air equations must be recalculated and the air measurement be compensated for fan air inlet density. Air measurements made via a pitot tube, hotwire, or flow grid will have significant error if the air density is not considered and corrected for. Humidity measurements made with sling psychrometers and less sophisticated digital equipment can produce significant error if proper air velocity, distilled water, clean wicks and/or proper technique is deviated from.
The Testo 435-4 with pressure allows the user to measure high velocity airflow with a Pitot tube or measure static pressures. The differential pressure manometer can be used for checking pressure switches, setting gas pressures, verifying pressure drops across coils or any other differential pressure measurement up to 80" wc.
