Vacuum pump oil is the most important part of any rotary
vane vacuum pump. The vacuum pump oil lubricates, absorbs contaminants, and
(most importantly) seals, allowing the evacuation process to happen...and with
the Fieldpiece VP55, happen quickly.
Proper hook up to the pump greatly affects the ability of any
vacuum pump to operate effectively. Just remember: 0.2-1-2-3:
If valve cores are left in during evacuation
process, any vacuum pump will become a 0.2 CFM pump regardless of hose
One 1/4” hose will turn any vacuum pump
into about a 1 CFM pump
One 3/8” hose will turn any vacuum pump
into about a 2 CFM pump
One 1/2” hose will turn any vacuum pump
into about a 3 CFM pump
The greater the flow, the faster you’ll go! Use as many
hoses as you can for full flow, with the largest diameter and shortest
length, and remove valve cores to maximize the flow to your vacuum pump.
Appion Valve Core Removal Tools (MGAVCT) are vacuum-rated to
20 microns, and allow for full flow by removing restrictive valve cores. Field serviceable, the Appion MGAVCT stays in
top working condition when you need it.
Appion MegaFlow 1/2” hoses are vacuum certified down to 20
microns, and has 1/4” and 3/8” connections to be universally adaptable to most
systems and most vacuum pumps. Even with
1/4” connections, the 1/2” diameter hose has 16x more flow than a standard 1/4”
hose and 3x more flow than a 3/8” hose.
MegaFlow hoses are vacuum-rated, giving you the confidence in having a
NEVER evacuate through a charging manifold! Even if it has a 3/8" evacuation port! One of the poorest practices you can have when evacuating is pulling through a charging manifold, second only to using 1/4" hoses. Put them together and you are adding hours to your job every day. Manifolds and hoses leak. Not only do they leak, they create unneeded restrictions and offer no valve to the evacuation process. In case you are wondering, having a micron gauge in the manifold is just plan a bad idea.
Absolutely! When evacuating a system, leaks are the enemy. Even the smallest leak in a refrigeration system or the evacuation rig can cause hours of frustration. Every try to suck soda through a cracked straw? Why does the soda not come out of the cup? Simple, the vacuum will break and pull in air where ever there is a leak. If that leak is in your core tools, hoses or manifold you can bet for sure you are not pulling the air and moisture from the system.The core tools and all of the hoses in this kit are vacuum rated and vacuum certified down to 20 microns!
